Ostrich do fine in northern climates including Utah. Some growers build a shelter that older birds would use if they are inclined to do so. If you are planning on hatching, then you would need an insulated and heated building for the chicks.

Birds of various ages can normally be purchased from growers. Be prepared for delivery when you purchase, there is a good demand right now. Please take the time to read our industries history on this site and check some of the other forum categories as well. As in many industries know who you are dealing with.

Can ostriches do well in a dry cold climate like norther Utah? I've read a lot of things about having a good shelter, so are we talking insulated and temperature controlled shelters?

One last question for now. Where is the best place to locate ostrich eggs/chicks/yearlings for sale?
